7 tricks to improve your memory

Are you worried about your memory? Do not panic. A few simple steps that range from practicing mental activity to physical
activity in your daily life can help you sharpen your memory.

Can not find car keys? Forget about what to buy? Can not you remember the names of the dear ones? You are not alone in this.
Each of us sometimes forgets some things. However, memory loss is not something you should accept with “easy heart”. Although
there are no guarantees regarding the prevention of memory loss or dementia, some memory tricks can help.

Read the following seven ways that can help improve your memory and find out if you should seek professional help.

Number 1: Stay mentally active

As physical activity contributes to the physical fitness of the body, activities that are mentally stimulating help your brain
to remain in shape. Resolve crosswords. Read the section of the newspaper that you normally avoid. When driving, do not always
go the same way. Learn to play a musical instrument. Become a volunteer in an organization.

Number 2: Socialize

Social interaction helps fight stress and depression, which contribute to memory loss. Always find time for your dear ones,
friends, relatives – especially if you live alone. Do not reject the invitation for a lunch or event!

Number 3: Organize

It’s much more likely to forget things if your home is unmediated and the notes you wrote are not arranged. Write your work
assignments, appointments, and other events to a special note, calendar, or planner. You can repeat each entry in the voice tag
in order to cement it into your memory. Regularly update the lists of what you need to do and redraw and either delete the
finished work. Define a place in the home where you leave the keys, wallet and other necessary things.

Number 4: Focus

Limit work interruptions and do not do too many things at once. If you focus on the information you want to remember, it’s much
more likely that you will later recall it. It can help that you want to remember to connect it to a favorite song or some other
familiar concept.

Number 5: Keep Healthy

The food that works well on your heart can have the same effect on your brain. Focus on diet with fruits, vegetables and whole
grains. Choose food sources that have low-fat proteins such as fish, pure red meat and chicken steak. Also, what you drink is
important. Too little water or too much alcohol can lead to confusion and memory loss.

Number 6: Turn on physical activity in everyday life

Physical activity increases the flow of blood throughout the body, including the brain. It can help maintain memory. For most
healthy adults, at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity (such as fast walking) or 75 minutes per week of high
aerobic activity (such as jogging) is recommended. If you do not have enough time, take at least 10 minutes a day for hiking.

Number 7: Follow the chronic conditions

Follow your doctor’s recommendations for any chronic condition that you have such as diabetes, high blood pressure and
depression. The more you take care of yourself, the better your memory will be. In addition, consult your doctor regularly with
regard to the medicines you are taking. Some medicines may have a negative effect on memory.

When to ask for help?

If you are concerned about your memory loss, especially if memory loss affects your abilities to carry out normal daily
activities, consult a doctor. The doctor will perform physical examination and check your memory as well as your abilities to
solve mental problems. Sometimes, the doctor will recommend making additional tests. Treatment will depend on what contributes
to memory loss.
